+ WORK AS A HEALTH OUTCOME IN THE NEW LOCAL AUTHORITY- CCG LANDSCAPE
Building on our Bermuda Triangle report looking at ‘work’ as a health outcome, during September 2011, 2020health presented four workshops to discuss "health and work" with shadow Health and Wellbeing Boards and others working locally in this area. We discussed suggestions for how this issue could be taken forward by health services, local councils and employers, and developed local action plans. There was widespread enthusiasm for the need for more integration and understanding between GPs and employers and we also saw examples of where public health teams had assisted employers to develop a healthier and more health-conscious workplace. + THE WELLS PROJECT
We are working in conjunction with Sainsbury's to explore how community pharmacists can work alongside the NHS to provide a resource for advice, guidance and support in making healthy lifestyle choices. This year-long programme will evaluate the impact of ten pharmacists on the health and wellbeing of ten families called Wells throughout the UK. 2020health is advising on the methodology of the programme and we are working closely with Heart Research UK in the evaluation of the outcomes. + MEN’S HEALTH
Men still do not live as long as women, have less disease-free life; suffer the effects of long term conditions longer than women; are less likely to access Primary Care services and the dentist and overall take less care of their health. 2020health would like to explore how new technologies can support improvements in health outcomes, improve the understanding of the impacts of the current attitudes to men’s health and explore what role social networks and interests and pursuits which are male-dominated can play in engaging men and boys in taking care of their health.
